If you are a teacher, chances are good you do not want the author of a book of pranks coming to your classroom to show your students how to make a fart machine. That’s why I designed several safe-for-schools-and-libraries presentations that put the educational in “pranks.” I can also do workshops on scary stories, ghosts and monsters from around the world (perfect for Halloween) and more general presentations about the process of researching, writing, and rewriting (and rewriting) a book and getting it published. Here is a sampling of presentations I can bring to your school, library, or bookstore.
For Schools and Libraries
• The Writing Process: I discuss the process of brainstorming ideas for books and then researching, writing, rewriting, fact-checking, and editing a manuscript.
• Gotcha! The History of Pranks From Ancient Rome to the Present: Who pulled the first prank? How did April Fools’ Day get started? Which U.S. president was the best prankster? What are the some of the best hoaxes ever pulled in science, sports, and even wartime? (Whoever said history is boring?)
For Bookstores and Other Non-School Settings
• Prank Like a Pro: A hands-on workshop where kids learn how to pull five simple pranks and get tips on how to come up with their own pranks.
